Özet:
The aim of this study is to examine Environmental Kuzentes Curve (EKC) hypothesis in Turkey during
the period 1980-2010. Real GDP per capita and CO2 emission per capita variables are used. Firstly,
ADF and Phillips Perron unit root tests are used to verify the order of integration of the variables and
Johansen cointegration test employed to examine the relationship. The results indicate that there is a
cointegration vector between the real GDP and CO2 in the long- run and there is monotonically increase
relationship between GDP and CO2 in Turkey. For that reason EKC hypothesis does not hold for Turkey
during the analyzed period.
