Nevşehir bölgesinin kongre turizmi potansiyelinin turizm işletme yöneticilerinin bakış açısıyla değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, Nevşehir bölgesindeki kongre turizmi potansiyelinin değerlendirilerek ön plana çıkarılmasına ve geliştirilmesine katkıda bulunacak birtakım yeni stratejilerin belirlenmesini ve hayata geçirilmesini sağlamaktır. Bu amaçla ilgili literatürde bir bölgede kongre turizminin geliştirilmesi için gerekli olduğu belirtilen birtakım özelliklerin ne derece önemli olduğu ve söz konusu özelliklerin Nevşehir’de ne derece yeterli olduğu, bölgede faaliyet gösteren turizm işletmelerinin bakış açılarıyla değerlendirilmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu doğrultuda konu ile ilgili geçmişte yapılan çalışmalardan yararlanılarak, kongre turizminin geliştirilmesine yönelik ifadelerin yer aldığı bir anket formu oluşturulmuştur. Anket, kongre etkinliklerine hizmet sağlayan 4 ve 5 yıldızlı otel işletmeleri, özel belgeli konaklama tesisleri ile kongre etkinliklerini organize etme yetkisine sahip A grubu seyahat acentalarının üst ve orta kademe yöneticilerinden oluşan 198 katılımcıyla yüz yüze gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bölgede kongre turizminin geliştirilmesi için gerekli kaynak ve uygulamalarda merkezi eğilim ölçüleri gibi istatistiksel analiz yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, doğal güzelliklere, tarihi ve kültürel zenginliklere sahip olması, konaklama işletmelerinin sayısı, destinasyonun imajı ve güvenliği kongre turizmi açısından önemli görülmekle birlikte Nevşehir’in bu alanlarda yeterli olduğu belirlenmiştir. Toplantı yapılmasına olanak sağlayan fiziksel mekânların varlığı, kongre turizmine yönelik ürün fiyat alternatifleri ve toplantı salonlarındaki teknik donanımların varlığının kongre turizmi açısından önemli olduğu, fakat Nevşehir’de bu özelliklerin yeterli olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Bununla birlikte, Nevşehir’de kongre ve ziyaretçi bürosu ile kongre turizmine hizmet veren işletmelerin bu alandaki ulusal/uluslararası kuruluşlara üye olmadıkları da tespit edilmiştir.

The purpose of this research is to determine and implement a number of new strategies that will contribute to the fore and development of congress tourism potential in the Nevşehir region. For this purpose, it has been tried to evaluate the importance of certain features which are stated to be necessary for the development of congress tourism in a region in the relevant literature and how sufficient these features are in Nevşehir from the perspectives of the tourism enterprises operating in the region. Accordingly, a questionnaire form containing statements about the development of congress tourism has been created by making use of the previous studies on the subject. The questionnaire was conducted face-to-face with 198 participants, consisting of 4 and 5 star hotel businesses, specially certified accommodation facilities and upper and middle level managers of the A group travel agencies who are authorized to organize congress events. Statistical analysis methods such as central tendency measures were used in the resources and practices necessary for the development of congress tourism in the region. As a result of the research, it has been determined that Nevşehir is sufficient in these areas, as it has important natural beauty, historical and cultural richness, number of accommodation establishments, image and security of the destination. It has been determined that the presence of physical spaces that allow for meetings, product price alternatives for congress tourism and the presence of technical equipment in the meeting halls are important for congress tourism, but these features are not sufficient in Nevşehir. With this, it has been determined that the congress and visitor bureau in Nevsehir and the businesses serving congress tourism are not members of national / international organizations in this field.
