Uyarlanmış beden eğitimi ve spor aktivitelerinin hafif zihinsel engelli bireylerin yaşam kaliteleri üzerine etkilerinin incelenmesi

Abstract

Araştırmanın amacı, hafif zihinsel engelli öğrencilerin ilgi, ihtiyaç ve beceri düzeylerine göre düzenlenen uyarlanmış beden eğitimi ve spor aktivitelerinin, yaşam kalitesi üzerine etkilerini incelemektir. Araştırmanın evrenini Nevşehir'de yaşayan ve hafif zihinsel yetersizliği olan bireyler oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklem grubu ise, Nevşehir Rasim Uzer İş-Eğitim Okulu öğrencilerinden oluşmaktadır. Çalışmamıza yaşları 13 ile 18 arasında olan 37 hafif zihinsel engelli çocuk katılmıştır. Katılımcıların %51,4'ü (n=19) kız, %48,6'sı (n=18) ise erkektir. Çalışma grubu, Seçmeli Beden Eğitimi Dersi alan öğrenciler (Deney grubu n=19) ve almayan öğrenciler olarak (Kontrol grubu n=18) gruplara ayrılmıştır. 6 hafta süren çalışmamızda deney grubuna haftada 2 gün ve günde 1 ders saati Uyarlanmış Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Aktiviteleri yaptırılmıştır. Araştırmada iki bölümden oluşan anket formu kullanılmıştır. Birinci bölümde 5 maddeden oluşan kısa bilgi formu bulunmaktadır. İkinci bölümde ise "Çocuklar İçin Yaşam Kalitesi Ölçeği Ebeveyn Formu" (ÇiYKÖ) kullanılmıştır. Form, Aktivitelerin başlamasından önceki 1 hafta içinde (ön-test), bitmesinden sonraki 1 hafta içinde (son-test) ve aktivitelerin bitiminden sonraki 6. hafta içinde (kalıcılık testi) ebeveynler tarafından doldurulmuştur. Araştırmanın analizinde spss 22 paket program kullanılmıştır. Ön – Son – Kalıcı etki testlerinden elde edilen veriler, cinsiyet-yaş-sınıf-seçmeli ders parametrelerine göre analiz edilmiştir. Seçmeli Ders Parametresine göre deney grubunun fiziksel sağlık puanı, psiko-sosyal toplam puanı ve ölçek toplam puanı arasında anlamlı düzeyde farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir. (p<0,05). Kontrol grubunun fiziksel sağlık puanı, psiko-sosyal toplam puanı ve ölçek toplam puanı arasında farklılık tespit edilmemiştir (p>0,05). Cinsiyet-Yaş-Sınıf parametrelerine göre ise hiçbir grupta ve ÇİYKÖ'nün hiçbir alt boyutunda farklılık belirlenmemiştir. Sonuç olarak uyarlanmış beden eğitimi ve spor etkinliklerinin hafif düzeyde zihinsel engelli bireylerin toplam yaşam kalitesini artırabileceği ve ilgili okullardaki seçmeli beden eğitimi derslerinin hafif düzeyde zihinsel engelli çocuklar için önemli fırsatlar oluşturduğu söylenebilir.

The aim of the study is to examine the effects of adapted physical education and sports activities, which are organized according to the interests, needs and skill levels of mildly mentally retarded students, on the quality of life. The population of the research consists of individuals living in Nevşehir and having mild mental retardation. The sample group of the research consists of H. Rasim Uzer Special Education Vocational Training Center students. 37 mildly mentally retarded children aged between 13 and 18 participated in our study. 51.4% (n=19) of the participants were female and 48.6% (n=18) were male. The study group was divided into groups as students who took Elective Physical Education Course (Experimental group n=19) and students who did not (Control group n=18). In our study that lasted for 6 weeks, Adapted Physical Education and Sports Activities were given to the experimental group 2 days a week and 1 lesson hour a day. A questionnaire consisting of two parts was used in the research. In the first part, there is a short information form consisting of 5 items. In the second part, the "Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory-Parent Reports (PedsQLS) was used. The form was completed by the parents within 1 week before the activities started (pre-test), within 1 week after they ended (post-test), and within 6th week after the end of the activities (permanence test). SPSS 22 package program was used in the analysis of the research. The data obtained from the Pre-Post-Permanent Impact tests were analyzed according to gender, age, class and elective course parameters. According to the Elective Course Parameter, Significant differences were found between the physical health score, psycho-social total score and scale total score of the experimental group (p<0.05). There was no difference between the physical health score, psycho-social total score and scale total score of the control group (p>0.05). No difference was found in any group and in any sub-dimension of PedsQLS according to gender, age or class parameters. As a result, it can be said that adapted physical education and sports activities can increase the total quality of life of individuals with mild mental retardation, and elective physical education courses in the relevant schools create important opportunities for children with mild mental retarded.
