The COVID-19 pandemic has deeply affected
the economic and social life in Turkey as well as in
the whole world. One of the occupational groups
most affected by this epidemic process is the
accounting profession. The measures taken in all
areas of life as part of the fight against the epidemic
adversely affected the working styles, incomes
and workloads of professional accountants. The
purpose of this study is to determine the impact
of the COVID-19 outbreak on the accounting
professionals. The online questionnaire created
for this purpose was applied to professional
accountants operating in the provinces of Isparta,
Burdur and Antalya. The data set for the research
was obtained from the questionnaire applied to
515 accounting professionals. As a result of the
study, it was revealed that the importance of the accounting profession was felt more during the
epidemic period and that the accountants did not
receive the emotional and economic appreciation
they believed they deserved. In addition, during
the epidemic period, it was determined that the
daily working hours of the accountants, workrelated stress levels, job demand intensity, the
fear of losing their job increased, their average
monthly income and the quality of communication
with taxpayers decreased.
