Okul öncesinde vatandaşlık eğitiminin program ve öğretmen görüşleri açısından incelenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin vatandaşlık eğitimi hakkındaki görüşlerini ve okul öncesi eğitim programındaki vatandaşlık eğitimini incelemektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden hem yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme hem de doküman incelemesi yöntemi kullanılarak veri çeşitlemesi (triangulation) yoluna gidilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, 2021-2022 eğitim-öğretim yılında Nevşehir İli, Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü'ne bağlı anaokulu ve anasınıflarında görev yapan gönüllü 25 okul öncesi öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Örneklemin belirlenmesinde "amaçlı örnekleme" yöntemlerinden biri olan 'kolay ulaşılabilir durum örneklemesi' tekniği kullanılmıştır. Bu araştırmada, araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanmış olan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında hazırlanan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu okul öncesi eğitim kurumlarında görev yapan 25 okul öncesi öğretmenine uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen verilerin çözümlenmesi içerik analizi ile değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma ile ilgili bulgular, 9 alt problem ve kodlar halinde sunulmuştur. Araştırma sonucunda; okul öncesi öğretmenlerin vatandaşlık eğitimi kavramına yönelik bilgilerinin yeterli olduğu görülmektedir. Ayrıca okul öncesi eğitim programında vatandaşlık eğitimi ile ilgili bilişsel gelişim alanında 1, sosyal ve duygusal gelişim alanında 8 kazanımın yer aldığı belirlenmiştir. Okul öncesi dönemde vatandaşlık eğitimi kapsamında sosyal katılım, saygı, vatanseverlik, sevgi, ait olma, duyarlılık, işbirliği, sorumluluk, empati, eleştirel düşünme, hoşgörü, yardımseverlik beceri ve değerlerin verilmesi gerektiği belirtilmiştir. Öğretmenler okul öncesi eğitim programında yer alan kazanımların vatandaşlık eğitimi açısından tam anlamıyla yeterli olmadığını ancak esnek program olduğu için geliştirilebileceğini belirtmişlerdir. Öğretmenler okul öncesi dönemde vatandaşlık eğitimi kapsamında aktif öğrenmeye yönelik yöntem ve tekniklerin kullanılmasını ifade etmişlerdir. Okul öncesi dönemdeki çocukların yaş düzeyleri dikkate alınarak vatandaşlık eğitimine yönelik uygun etkinlikler planlanırsa çocukların vatandaşlık kavramına ilişkin bakış açılarının gelişebileceği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Öğretmenlerin vatandaşlık eğitimine yönelik en çok önerdikleri uygulamalar "alan gezileri" olmuştur. Öğretmenler okul öncesi dönemdeki çocukların yaş gruplarının küçük olduğundan dolayı vatandaşlık eğitimine ilişkin kavramların etkinliklerle somutlaştırılmasının gerektiğini belirtmişlerdir. Okul öncesi öğretmenlerin % 44'ü okul öncesi dönemdeki çocukların hazırbulunuşluğunu vatandaşlık eğitimi açısından yeterli bulmaktadırlar.

The main purpose of this study is to examine the views of preschool teachers about citizenship education and citizenship education in preschool education program. For this purpose, data triangulation was used in the study by using both semi-structured interview and document analysis method, which are qualitative research methods. The study group of the research consists of 25 volunteer preschool teachers working in kindergartens and kindergartens affiliated to the Directorate of National Education in Nevşehir Province in the 2021-2022 academic year. In determining the sample, the 'convenience sampling' technique, which is one of the 'purposive sampling' methods, was used. In this study, a semi-structured interview form prepared by the researcher was used. The semi-structured interview form prepared within the scope of the research was applied to 25 preschool teachers working in pre-school education institutions. The analysis of the data obtained in the research was evaluated with content analysis. Findings related to the research are presented in 8 main themes and categories. As a result of the research; It is seen that the knowledge of pre-school teachers about the concept of citizenship education is sufficient. It was stated that social participation, respect, patriotism, love, belonging, sensitivity, cooperation, responsibility, empathy, critical thinking, tolerance, helpfulness skills and values should be given within the scope of citizenship education in the preschool period. Teachers stated that the acquisitions in the pre-school education program are not fully sufficient in terms of citizenship education, but they can be improved because it is a flexible program. Teachers expressed the use of methods and techniques for active learning within the scope of citizenship education in the preschool period. It has been concluded that if appropriate activities for citizenship education are planned, taking into account the age levels of children in the pre-school period, children's perspectives on the concept of citizenship can be improved. The practices most recommended by teachers for citizenship education were "field trips". The teachers stated that the concepts related to citizenship education should be embodied with activities because the age groups of children in the pre-school period are small. 44% of pre-school teachers find the readiness of preschool children sufficient in terms of citizenship education. In addition, it has been determined that there are 1 acquisitions in the field of cognitive development related to citizenship education and 8 acquisitions in the field of social and emotional development in the preschool education program.
