İlkokul 3. sınıfta fen bilimleri dersinde web 2.0 uygulamaları kullanımının etkisinin incelenmesi

Abstract

Araştırma, ilkokul 3. Sınıf Fen Bilimleri dersinde Web 2.0 uygulamalarını kullanmanın öğrencilerin tutum ve motivasyonları üzerinde etkili olup olmadığını tespit etmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Çalışmada nitel ve nicel çalışmaların birlikte kullanıldığı karma model esas alınmıştır. Çalışmanın nicel bölümünde tarama araştırması yapılırken nitel bölümde ise eylem araştırması yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini Nevşehir ili Merkez ilçesi, çalışma grubunu ise merkez ilçeye bağlı iki farklı ilkokul 3. sınıfta öğrenim gören 377 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma sürecinin başında çalışma grubuna ön test uygulanarak öğrencilerin Fen Bilimleri'ne yönelik mevcut tutum ve motivasyonları belirlenmiştir. 12 haftalık süreçte belirlenen Fen Bilimleri konularının işleyişi dikkat çekme, konu anlatımı ve değerlendirme aşamalarında ev ile okul ortamında 10 farklı Web 2.0 aracı kullanılarak zenginleştirilmiştir. Süreç sonunda da son test uygulanarak tutum ve motivasyonlarındaki farklılaşma durumu araştırma problemleri çerçevesinde analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın nicel verileri, veri toplama tekniklerine uygun olarak Demirci (2002) tarafından geliştirilen "Fen Bilgisi Dersine Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği" ve Dede ve Yaman (2008) tarafından geliştirilen "Fen Öğrenmeye Yönelik Motivasyon Ölçeği" ile toplanmıştır. Ölçeklerden elde edilen veriler Bağımlı ve Bağımsız Gruplar T testi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın nitel verilerini ise her hafta yapılan uygulamaların sonucunda elde edilen dokümanlar ve öğretmen görüşmeleri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın nicel analizleri sonucunda: derslerde Web 2.0 uygulamaları kullanılmasında öğrencilerin Fen Bilimleri dersine yönelik motivasyon ve tutum puanlarında anlamlı farklılık görülmemiştir. Fen Bilimleri dersinde Web 2.0 araçlarının kullanması öğrencilerinin tutum ve motivasyonları üzerinde cinsiyet değişkeni açısından anlamlı bir farklılık oluşturmamıştır. Nitel verilere bakıldığında ise Web 2.0 araçları ile geliştirilen etkinliklerin Fen Bilimleri dersinde kullanılması, öğrencilerin derse yönelik tutum ve motivasyonları başta olmak üzere ilgi, dikkat ve başarısını olumlu yönde etkilemektedir. Araştırmaya katılan öğretmenlerin çoğunluğu Web 2.0 uygulamalarının derslerde kullanılması konusunda olumlu görüş bildirmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular dikkate alındığında, Web 2.0 araçları farklı üniteler üzerine de entegre edilerek Fen Bilimleri dersine yönelik dijital uygulamalı içeriklerin öğrenci seviyesine uygun olarak hazırlanması ve öğrencilerin internet ortamında kalma süreleri göz önünde bulundurularak öğrencilerin bu süreci daha verimli kullanması için Web 2.0 uygulamalarının ders ile bütünleştirilmesi ayrıca benzer çalışmalarda farklı ölçekler kullanılarak araştırmanın tekrar yapılması önerilmektedir.

The research was conducted to determine whether using Web 2.0 applications in the primary school 3rd grade Science course is effective on students' attitudes and motivation. The study was based on a mixed model in which qualitative and quantitative studies were used together. While survey research was conducted in the quantitative part of the study, action research was conducted in the qualitative part. The population of the research consists of the Central district of Nevşehir province, and the study group consists of 377 students studying in the 3rd grade of two different primary schools in the central district. At the beginning of the research process, a pre test was applied to the study group to determine the students' current attitudes and motivations towards science. The functioning of the Science subjects determined during the 12 week period was enriched by using 10 different Web 2.0 tools in the home and school environment in the stages of drawing attention, explaining the subject and evaluating the subject. At the end of the process, a post-test was applied and the differentiation in attitudes and motivations was analysed within the framework of the research problems. The quantitative data of the study were collected with the "Attitude Scale towards Science Lesson" developed by Demirci (2002) and the "Motivation Scale for Learning Science" developed by Dede and Yaman (2008) in accordance with data collection techniques. Data obtained from the scales were analysed using the Dependent and Independent Groups T test. The qualitative data of the research consists of the documents obtained as a result of the applications carried out every week and teacher interviews. As a result of the quantitative analysis of the research, no significant difference was observed in students' motivation and attitude scores towards the Science course when Web 2.0 applications were used in classes. The use of Web 2.0 tools in the Science course did not create a significant difference in the attitudes and motivation of students in terms of gender variable. Considering the qualitative data, the use of activities developed with Web 2.0 tools in the Science course positively affects students' interest, attention and success, especially their attitudes and motivation towards the course. The majority of teachers participating in the research expressed positive opinions about the use of Web 2.0 applications in lessons. Considering the findings obtained from the research, Web 2.0 tools are integrated into different units, preparing digital applied content for the Science course in accordance with the student level, and integrating Web 2.0 applications into the course so that students can use this process more efficiently, taking into account the duration of students' stay on the internet. It is also recommended that the research be repeated using different scales in similar studies.
