Because of the disadvantages of microstrip patch antennas, they should be used in multiple (array antennas) and different geometric structures in order to be used in long distance communications Thus, by eliminating the disadvantages, they can be used especially in spacecraft, telemetry and radar applications for satellite and missile systems. In this paper, 2x2, 4x4 and 8x8 array patch antennas that can communicate with long distances are designed and simulated. Moreover, it presents the antenna performance for feeding at different
points in the 8x8 array patch antenna design. The patch antenna type used in this paper is rectangular. The design steps of the antennas and their performance are examined in terms of antenna parameters. The center frequency of all antennas is 10 GHz and operate in the X band. The dielectric material used for the designed antennas is Rogers RO4232 (tm), the height of this material is 1 mm and the dielectric constant is 3.2. All designs and simulations are performed in HFSS 12.1 (High Frequency Structural Simulator).
