Tiyatro kavramı tiyatro mimarisinin varlığından çok öncesine dayanmaktadır. Prehistorik dönemde ilk insanlar besinin nereden geldiğini anlamlandırmak adına tiyatral hareketler ile yaptıkları ritüellerde tiyatroya inanç olgusu katmışlardır. Bir inanç olgusu ile başlayıp ardından bunu kaybetmesi üzerine tiyatro kavramı eski önemini yitirir. Tiyatro Dionysos inancı ile yeniden inanç olgusuna kavuşur. Ritüellerde yapılan tiyatral gösteriler olasılıkla halkın gündelik hayatında da bu gösterilerin devam etmesi isteği üzerine bu yapıyı ortaya çıkarmıştır. Tiyatro mimarisinin ortaya çıkışı Klasik Dönem'in sonlarına dayanmakta ve dönem ilerledikçe yapıda değişimler görülmektedir. Tiyatro mimarisi; scaene, cavea ve orkestra olmak üzere üç ana unsurdan oluşmaktadır. Tez kapsamında yapılacak olan çalışmada tiyatro mimarisinin caveası hakkında, yapıldığı zamandan gelişim evrelerine kadar genel bir araştırma yapılmıştır. Bu araştırmada caveanın gelişimi, bölümleri, oturma alanları hakkında araştırmalar yapılmıştır. Araştırmalarda Anadolu genelinde geçmişten günümüze kadar gelen ve halen yürütülen tiyatro çalışmalarından yararlanılmıştır. Yapılan araştırmalarda caveanın dönemsel değişimler gösterdiği, dönem ilerledikçe ve teknoloji geliştikçe caveanında bundan etkilendiği, belli başlı bölümlere ayrıldığı, genel oturma alanlarının yanı sıra halkın sosyal statü farkına sahip olan bireylerinin tiyatroda ayrıcalıklı yerlere sahip olduğu gibi veriler elde edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak dönemsel değişim etkileri cavea bölümleri gibi genel özelliklerin bilindiği fakat oturma alanlarının arasındaki farkın yeterli ölçüde ele alınmayan bir konu olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Bunun yanı sıra özel oturma alanı olarak da ifade edilen statü farkına sahip bireylerin oturma alanları hakkında da yeterli bilgi olmadığı bu oturma alanlarının adlandırmalarında ortak bir terminolojinin bulunmadığı ve terminoloji sorununun olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Terminoloji sorunu nedeniyle tez kapsamında Anadolu'daki özel oturma alanları değerlendirilip bir terminoloji oluşturulmuştur. Tez kapsamında değerlendirilecek olan Ionia Bölgesinin cavealarda yer alan özel oturma alanları bu terminoloji doğrultusunda değerlendirilmiştir. Ionia Bölgesinde yer alan tiyatroların caveaları tiyatro mimarisinin erken dönem örneklerinden bazıları olduğu gibi dönem değişikliklerinin de izlenebildiği cavealar olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Ayrıca özel oturma alanlarının birden fazla oluşu bölgede farklı statülere sahip birden fazla topluluğunda varlığına önemli kanıt olarak söylenebilmektedir. Bu bağlamda özel oturma alanları tez kapsamında sosyal ve siyasal olarak da değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca benzer işlevlere sahip mimarilerdeki özel oturma alanı terminolojisine uyan oturma alanlarına da adlandırma önerisinde bulunulmuştur.
The concept of theater dates back to before the existence of theater architecture. In order to make sense of where their food comes from, Prehistoric Period first people added belief to the theater in the rituals they performed with theatrical movements. The concept of theater loses its former importance when it starts with a belief phenomenon and then loses it. The theater regains the belief phenomenon with the belief of Dionysus. Theatrical performances in rituals probably revealed this structure upon the people's desire to continue these performances in their daily lives. The emergence of theater architecture dates back to the end of the Classical Period and as the period progresses, changes are seen in the structure. Theater architecture consists of three main elements; scaene, cavea and orchestra. In the study to be carried out within the scope of the thesis, a general research was made about the cavea of the theater architecture from the time it was made to the development stages. In this research, researches were carried out on the development of the cavea, its sections and seating areas. In the researches, theatrical works from the past to the present and still carried out throughout Anatolia were used. In the researches carried out, data such as the periodical changes in the cavea, the fact that the cavea was affected by this as the period progressed and the technology developed, it was divided into certain sections, and the general seating areas as well as the individuals with social status difference had privileged places in the theater. As a result, it has been understood that general features such as the effects of periodic changes and cavea sections are known, but the difference between the sitting areas is an issue that has not been adequately addressed. In addition, it has been understood that there is not enough information about the sitting areas of individuals with status difference, which is also expressed as private seating areas, that there is no common terminology in the naming of these seating areas and that there is a terminology problem. Due to the terminology problem, special living areas in Anatolia were evaluated within the scope of the thesis and a terminology was created. The special seating areas in the cavea of the Ionian Region, which will be evaluated within the scope of the thesis, have been evaluated in line with this terminology. It has been understood that the caveas of the theaters in the Ionian Region are some of the early examples of theater architecture, as well as caveas where the changes of the period can be observed. In addition, the existence of more than one private living area can be said as important evidence of the existence of more than one community with different status in the region. In this context, private sitting areas were also evaluated socially and politically within the scope of the thesis. In addition, it has been suggested to name the seating areas that comply with the special seating area terminology in architectures with similar functions.
