Toledo çevirmenler okulu ve Avrupa üzerine etkisi

Abstract

Tercüme faaliyetleri, geçmişten günümüze kültürlerarası bir etkileşim yolu olup, medeniyetlerin birbirleriyle olan münasebetlerini ve etkileşimlerini sürdürmelerine ön ayak olmuştur. Bu etkileşim sayesinde bilimsel faaliyetlerin ve nihai olarak da toplumların gelişimi hedeflenmiştir. Değerlendirdiğimiz Toledo Çevirmenler Okulu da Endülüs medeniyetinin bilgi birikiminin Avrupa’ya taşınmasında çok önemli bir yere sahip olmuştur. Nitekim burada gerçekleşen Arapçadan muhtelif dillere çeviri faaliyetleri sayesinde Batı’nın Rönesans’ı gerçekleşmiş ve yıllardır kilise tahakkümü altında ezilen bilim adamları derin bir nefes almıştır. Batı medeniyetinin oluşumunda İslam’ın yadsınamaz etkisi, günümüzde de birçok araştırmacı tarafından bilinen bir husustur. Pekâlâ, bunda garipsenecek bir durum yoktur. Zira medeniyetler, farklı kültürlerin birbirleriyle etkileşiminden meydana gelir. Toledo Çevirmenler Okulu da bunun yansımalarından yalnızca biridir.

Translation activities have been a way of intercultural interaction from past to present, and have paved the way for civilizations to maintain their relations and interactions with each other. Through this interaction, the development of scientific activities and ultimately the development of societies is aimed. The Toledo School of Translators, which we are evaluating, also played a very important role in the transfer of the knowledge of the Andalusian civilization to Europe. As a matter of fact, thanks to the translation activities that took place here from Arabic into various languages, the renaissance of the West took place and the scientists, who had been oppressed under the domination of the church for years, took a deep breath. The undeniable influence of Islam in the formation of Western civilization is a fact known by many researchers today. Well, there is nothing strange about this. Civilizations are formed from the interaction of different cultures. The Toledo School of Translators is just one of the reflections of this.
